The Shadows' Prey

In twilight's hush, where shadows play,

A midnight feast, the demons sway,

Their whispers weave a wicked spell,

As mortal hearts begin to dwell.

A young girl walks, with feet so light,

Through forest dark, where terrors take flight,

The trees loom tall, like skeletal hands,

Reaching for her, with branches grand.

She hears the whispers, a chilling breeze,

That speaks her name, with wicked ease,

The wind it howls, like a mournful sigh,

As darkness closes, with a fatal guise.

She runs and runs, through the endless night,

The shadows chase, with an otherworldly might,

Her heart beats fast, with a frightened cry,

As the darkness laughs, with a demon's eye.

But then she sees, a figure so dear,

A loved one's face, with a ghostly peer,

It calls her name, with a voice so sweet,

And she reaches out, to the phantom's treat.

But as she touches, the hand so cold,

The face contorts, with a demon's hold,

The eyes glow red, with an evil grin,

And she screams loud, as the darkness spins.

The demons close, with a wicked delight,

As she realizes, she's their midnight bite,

The shadows consume, with a fatal sigh,

And the girl's screams, echo, till morning's cry.
